BSSVD is a growing UK based international society with members currently numbering over 160 and drawn from a range of specialities such as Dermatology, Gynaecology, Genitourinary Medicine and Histopathology. The society places much emphasis on multi-disciplinary working and this is reflected in its officers who are drawn from all the disciplines.
The objectives of the society are:
- The relief of patients suffering from vulval diseases
- The promotion of research into the causes of vulval diseases on the terms that the results of such research are published
- The practice and the art and science of diagnosing and treating vulval diseases.
BSSVD also has a strong commitment to vulval patients via its support of the The Vulval Health Awareness Campaign, the Vulval Pain Society (VPS), the National Lichen Sclerosus Support Group (NLSSG) and UK Lichen Planus.

BSSVD is interested to know how members feel about the siting of vulva clinics in the UK. For example, please say if you feel that GUM clinics are ideal due to their ability to screen for infections during the course of the patient's visit to the vulval clinic.
